The Center for Migration Studies (CMS) Fall Internship applications are now open! Are you a post-secondary student or early professional interested in building your professional resume and expanding your professional and academic networks?

CMS offers two internship opportunities: Communications and Program (Research and Communications). Each internship will provide different insights into the organization and the work we’re producing through our various channels. Here’s some things you can look forward to when applying for each position:

Communications

✔︎Contribute to CMS’s online communications and social media marketing, including CMS’s social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn), and potentially contribute blog posts for the CMS website;

✔︎Build distribution lists and readership of CMS’s newsletter, publications, and scholarly journals (International Migration Review, Journal on Migration and Human Security, Migration Update) through identification of key constituents including scholars, public officials, faith communities, community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, corporate leaders, and others;

✔︎Assist with the production and dissemination of press releases and other external relations materials;

✔︎Assist in the production of podcasts and event videos; and more..

If you are interested in graphic design, social media and content management, and other online workflows, you will find a home on our team this fall.

Program (Research and Communications)

Support the Communications Manager with:

✔︎Updating the CMS website and potentially contributing blog posts; Administrative tasks related to CMS’s newsletter, publications, and scholarly journals (International Migration Review, Journal on Migration and Human Security, Migration Update);

✔︎Support the Deputy Director and Data and Policy Analyst with: Research-related tasks, including literature review, data cleaning and analysis, and copyediting;

✔︎Support the Development Resource Officer with: Updating and maintaining development databases, including contacts database (Network for Good); Researching funding opportunities and development strategies; and more..

These internships provide professional development opportunities for students and young professionals interested in migration and refugee research and policy developments. CMS is a mission-driven workplace filled with opportunities to learn, explore new ideas, and build new skills.
