On this special day, we feel deeply and pray for those fleeing the horrors and evils of war, especially those affected by the conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, Haiti and Sudan. We also hold in our hearts those who are escaping from the grips of poverty, the devastation of climate-related catastrophes, and the harsh realities of exploitative, slavery-like working conditions. As Scalabrinians, we condemn the injustices that force people from their homes and commit to standing with them as they seek peace, safety, and a new beginning. We also denounce the ruthless actions of human traffickers who exploit and endanger the lives of the most vulnerable, preying on their desperation. Let us work tirelessly for a world where peace prevails, where every individual is embraced with compassion and dignity, and where no one is left behind.
